Restart Self-Employment Advisor, Full time 37 hours per week

New and exciting opportunity to work on the national Restart Programme – supporting individuals back into self-employment, work and/or training.
We are looking for an experienced and qualified Self-Employment Advisor to work within the Council’s Employment, Learning and Skills division.
Working under the direction of the one of the Service Managers, you will join the new Restart team, providing a bespoke employment support service (self-employment) to individuals that have been unemployed for over twelve months, including vulnerable people with health conditions. You must be able to demonstrate your ability to assist individuals in seeking, obtaining and sustaining employment up until 2024.
Using your own initiative, you will manage a diverse caseload of adults, taking responsibility for maximising the turnover of individual appointments and ensuring participants are fully supported. You will ensure that efficiencies and income generation are maximised, utilising face-to-face and multi-channel platforms (digital, video, telephone). By supporting individuals on their journey for twelve months, you will ensure they take steps to progress towards their employment goals and see the positive results when they move into work.
You will determine, through initial appointment, the candidates' starting point in terms of their employment/self-employment journey, providing effective information and advice, and applying employment assessment tools to determine a bespoke package of support for the individual.
The post will involve planning and delivery of Job Hubs, Interview Skills and CV/business planning workshops. You will be required to develop personal knowledge of CV writing styles and effective interview preparation techniques.
You will need to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of specialist organisations and their functions both within and outside of the borough to support and signpost/refer adults to appropriate support e.g. self-employment, business start-up, marketing, addictions, debt advice, business start-up, etc. and ensure that their details are kept up to date on the CRM and bespoke IT systems.
