Halton Borough Council

Halton Borough Council Finance Department is seeking to appoint a hard-working, conscientious and confident person to the position of Rating Officer within the business rates team.

The Council collects over £50m of business rates on an annual basis which helps fund the wide range of services the Council provides. The ideal applicant will help support the small but dedicated team in billing, collection and recovery of business rates.

Your main role will be to deal with Revenues queries over the telephone and in writing. You will also be required to update computer records, ensuring they are accurate and up to date. Whilst it is desirable that you have experience of working in a revenues environment, it is not essential. You will have excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise. Excellent knowledge and experience of IT is required with the ability to work on your own initiative at various times. The ability to evidence good communication skills on technical aspects, such as business rates, is also required.

Halton Borough Council will support you through a learning and development programme, a minimum 25 days annual leave each year and the option to contribute towards a local government pension scheme.
