Halton Borough Councils Finance Department are seeking to appoint a motivated and conscientious team player to the position of Revenues Officer within the Council Tax team to deliver a professional and exceptional service to the public.

The Council Tax collects over £70m of Council Tax on annual basis which helps fund the a wide range of services  The ideal applicant will help support the dedicated team undertake work concerning the billing, collection and recovery of Council Tax. Your main role will be to deal with Revenues queries over the telephone and in writing. You will be required to update computer records, ensuring they are accurate and up to date.

In return Halton Borough Council will support you through a learning and development programme, a minimum 25 days annual leave each year and the option to contribute towards a local government pension scheme.


About you

  • You must be reliable, confident and able to work under pressure. You must have experience of dealing with customers in a busy environment and have excellent customer care skills.
  • You must have the ability and confidence to make appropriate decisions and possess a high level of written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Whilst it is desirable you have experience of working in a Revenues environment, it is not essential. You will have excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise.
  • Knowledge and experience of IT is required with the ability to work on your own initiative at various times.
  • Ideally, you will be possess a minimum of 3 GCSE’s including Maths and English at Grade C or above (or equivalent) or demonstrate the appropriate level of skills and experience.
