Halton Children’s Social Care is looking for an aspirational leader to undertake the role of Head of Service for Practice Improvement and Principal Social Worker!

Halton prides itself on developing a reflective and learning culture for staff, that aspires to support children and families to stay together safely. The role will oversee the Social Work Academy, working with the DFE local colleges and universities to offer Step Up, apprenticeships, Frontline and social work placements. 

You will lead on the progression process for our teams, will develop services across Early Help, Child In Need and statutory interventions, responding to government and regulatory changes.  As the Principal Social Worker, you will advocate for our teams, ensuring they have the right support in place to carry out their duties effectively.

You will be working nationally, and regionally, to ensure Halton is engaged and informed, in trailblazer opportunity, funding and changes in national practice.

Halton is a small Local Authority situated in the Cheshire region with transport links to M56, M57, M62 and M6 making us the ideal location for those who live within Greater Manchester, Liverpool City Region, Cheshire and North Wales. We offer a flexible approach to working, up to 36 days annual leave plus bank holidays, a supportive environment and a strong passionate workforce.

You will be aspirational for children, families and workforce and be able to prioritise your work to meet competing deadlines. You will have experience in developing and shaping services to improve the outcomes for our children and families, supporting our teams through periods of change. Experience of undertaking bids to secure and develop services and experience across services and Management is also required.
