Halton Borough Council’s Benefits Service is seeking to appoint a Benefits Officer to be part of a busy team that administers Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction for claimants within the borough of Halton.
You should have a minimum of 3 GCSEs or equivalent or be able demonstrate an equivalent level of skills or experience. You will have experience of working in a busy office environment and will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines.
You will be proficient in the use of Microsoft Access, Excel and Word and will have the ability to produce reports.
The role requires regular communication with a range of stakeholders including members of the public and you should therefore have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
You will be able to use your initiative and have confidence to make appropriate decisions. Likewise, you will be required to work as part of a wider team and should therefore be a team player.

This particular post is on a progressive scale so there is the opportunity to rise through the grade dependant on skills, knowledge and experience. As a minimum applicants must demonstrate in their application form that they meet each of the requirements listed in the person specification for HBC2.
